Freshmen begin their journey in MMU

May 30, Main Hall – The usual swarm of “freshies” descended upon MMU in droves as the university opened for its June Intake this morning. Registration began at 8am.

The freshmen were required to collect their temporary Student ID and a checklist before proceeding to the Main Hall for registration. The hall was packed with hundreds of students in queue with many more outside the Student Excellence Centre (SEC) Building. Parents were seen waiting patiently at the tent.

New student Nur Najla who hails from Seremban describe the administration staffs handling the registration as “very nice and friendly”. Nur Najla will be enrolling in Foundation in Law. She said, “I choose MMU because I like the environment and I heard from friends MMU is among the best universities in the country.”

Debra Allison and Sia Yi Ting who were seen chatting with one another told neXus, “We’ve heard good things about MMU.” Debra and Yi Ting only met today. Debra hails from Kota Kinabalu while Yi Ting is from Bandar Ka’ba.

Two freshmen who were also seen chatting very friendly and only met each other today are Nurul Hasnaa Husain and Hashvini Rekha. Both of them will be enrolling in Foundation in Law. “I heard MMU is among the top universities in the country and I have seniors who recommended me to come here,” Nurul said when asked why she chose to enrol in MMU. Nurul and Hashvini also testified that the administration staffs and orientation committee are friendly.

Two parents and their son who arrived outside the SEC Building for registration were spotted walking away in frustration when they were told by an orientation committee that they need to first collect a temporary ID and a checklist from counters at CLC Concourse.

“I couldn’t find a parking!” a senior student who arrived in campus said.

Orientation committee Christine Lee told neXus,”Some were rather frustrated because the queue is long. However, the whole registration process is going quite smoothly.”
